Forest Schools First Aid Course

This new course has been developed to ensure standardisation of First Aid Training for Forest Schools Practitioners.  For more information about Forest Schools go to their website at: http://www.forestschools.com/.

The new Forest Schools First Aid course meets all of the First Aid requirements of providers of this innovative and adventurous outdoor learning model for children.  At Lancashire First Aid Training Ltd we are able to offer this course through our Forest Schools registered First Aid Trainer, Ian Ordish.  We only use registered providers.

Ian holds Outdoor Education qualifications and has a wealth of experience as a first aid trainer.  He has been an active member of a Mountain Rescue Team for more than 30 years and holds the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Certificate.

The Forest Schools First Aid Course

• Is 16 hours duration for actual teaching and learning contact time in keeping with the requirements of the established National Governing Bodies for Outdoor Education.

• The course prepares candidates to deal with incidents in the outdoors and in remote settings, which by definition is 30 minutes from assistance.

• Content includes dealing with incidents to both adults and children. A Child is defined as being aged between one year to onset of puberty.

• The course content includes a range of medical conditions experienced by children as well as burns, poisons, foreign bodies in the eye, hypothermia and other related conditions, CPR, choking, trauma injury and bleeding.

• As the course includes injury and illness of adults, but does not include infants aged 0-12 months, it cannot be a substitute for the Paediatric First Aid course or certification, and so is not transferable to EYFS statutory requirements.
